Community Conversations at Okemos Library August – October 2015

The series of Community Conversations, sponsored by the Friends of Okemos Library, is continuing at the Okemos Library. The intent is to bring interesting local “experts” together with the community to engage in conversation. The conversations begin at 7:00 p.m.  For upcoming events, read more >>>

Thursday August 6, 2015, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm – Watersheds, presented by Pat Lindemann, Ingham County Drain Commissioner, will discuss watersheds, the interconnectedness of our waterways, and how what we do locally has a broader global impact.

Thursday September 3, 2015, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm – The Maker Movement, presented by Tom Deits. This broad-based movement allows folks to access tools to spur innovation and creativity for personal fulfillment, economic development, or education.

Thursday October 1, 2015, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm – Tree Blights, presented by Dr. Dennis Fulbright, Professor Emeritus at MSU, will discuss tree blights, what causes them, how they are managed, and how tree species begin to recover. In his role as Vice President, Product Development, at Treeborn Products he is working exploring uses for the Chestnut.
